FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

PUBLIC HEARING ON SCHOOL CAPITAL PROJECT IS FEBRUARY 27

AKRON, NEW YORK (February 7, 2019) – A public hearing on the proposed capital project for Akron Schools will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 7:00PM in the Dr. David W. Fish Multi-Purpose Room, 47 Bloomingdale Avenue, Akron. Community members are encouraged to attend the presentation after which an opportunity to ask questions about the project will be provided.

The scope of the project is based upon a detailed study by Director of Facilities, Mr. James Andres, and a pre-referendum inspection of all facilities at Akron Schools by the professional staff at Clark Patterson Lee and Campus Construction Management.

The District expects to maximize New York State Aid on the project which will address necessary renovations for preservation of the facilities, health and safety, and energy management. The District will qualify for 82.9% building aid on the cost of the project and will use funds from the District’s Capital Reserve. It is anticipated that there will be no increase to the local tax levy.

A referendum for the proposed building project will be on a ballot and presented to the voters on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 2:00PM to 8:00PM in Gym 3 located adjacent to the High School parking lot.

For additional information about the public hearing or to schedule a presentation to your group or organization about the proposed project, please contact Mrs. Roxanne Rebmann, District Clerk, at (716)542-5006.  Please click here to view a digital version of the newsletter regarding the project to be sent to voters.
