Day of Caring

Akron Central Schools Announces District-Wide Day of Caring

Akron Central Schools is proud to announce its upcoming District-Wide Day of Caring, a new initiative designed to connect students with meaningful opportunities to give back to the Akron community.

The vision for this special day is simple: every student, from the youngest learners to high school seniors, will participate in service experiences that are engaging, purposeful, and developmentally appropriate. The Day of Caring directly supports the district’s Strategic Planning Goal #1: “Akron Central Schools will continue to expand student experiences and enhance community engagement opportunities.”

On this day, middle school and high school students will take part in a variety of hands-on service activities throughout the community, with most students traveling off campus for less than three hours. Projects will focus on supporting local residents, beautifying shared spaces, and strengthening partnerships with community organizations.

Planned student activities include:

  • Assisting local seniors with yard clean-up

  • Cleaning and beautifying parks, neighborhoods, and bike paths

  • Supporting local organizations and animal rescue efforts

  • Working with younger students in Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms

  • Participating in campus and community beautification projects such as mulching and painting

Younger students will also take part in age-appropriate activities that build awareness of service and community care.

Akron Central Schools is committed to fostering a culture of service and civic responsibility, and the Day of Caring is an exciting step toward deepening those connections.

Community members are invited to be part of this effort. If you have an idea for how students could help or give back, please complete the form below.
