Elementary Special Education Teacher (Anticipated Opening)

Position: 1.0 FTE Elementary Special Education Teacher (Probationary Appointment)

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:

  • NYS Certification Childhood Education Gr. 1-6
  • NYS Certification Students with Disabilities K-12 or 1-6; K extension
  • NYS Certification Early Childhood Education Birth - 2nd

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Comprehensive understanding of NYS ELA and Math CC Standards and evidence based instructional practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of evidence based literacy instruction aligned to the Science of Reading.
  • Comprehensive understanding of special education requirements and law as it relates to the implementation of IEP’s, and differentiation of instruction.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of the principles and methods for instruction at the elementary level and early childhood education.
  • Demonstrate ability to design and implement lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with faculty, related service providers, families, and grade levels team.
  • Ability to create a positive student centered learning environment.
  • Utilization of student assessments and data processes to progress monitor, identify programmatic needs, as well as target support for individual students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and grade level team to design, modify, and implement effective lesson (unit) plans
  • Develop and implement IEP’s for students with disabilities

START DATE:  September 1, 2026

SALARY:  Compensation as per District/AFA Collective Bargaining Agreement

Maintenance Mechanic Crew Chief

Position: Maintenance Mechanic Crew Chief (Non-Competitive Civil Service)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five years of experience in the building or services trades, one year of which was in a supervisory capacity OR
  2. Nine years of experience in the building or service trades, one year of which was in a supervisory capacity OR
  3. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (1) and (2)

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Must possess EPA 608 Universal Certification at time of hire
  • HVAC Technician Course
  • Certified as a pool operator.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 New York State driver’s license at the time of hire

DUTIES:

  • Efficient operation and maintenance of school facilities and equipment- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repair
  • Adhere to preventative maintenance schedules
  • Prioritize health and safety of all students and staff
  • Direct supervision over a staff of skilled and unskilled employees
  • Evaluates work performance of subordinate employees 

START DATE:  April 22, 2026

HOURLY RATE: $30.00

WORK SCHEDULE: Twelve month schedule, Eight (8) hours  per day, Normal Hours: 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (M-F) *Must be available for emergency call-ins

Football Varsity Coach

COACHING VACANCY - Fall 2026-2027

Position: Football Varsity Coach 

Required Certifications:

1. AED, CPR, First Aid Certification
2. Child Abuse Identification Workshop
3. Concussion Training
4. DASA Training

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to work with students in a positive, encouraging and developmental capacity

Duties and Responsibilities:

o Manage and supervise athletic activities. 
o Promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and sportsmanship.
o Use a variety of coaching/instructional techniques to improve the abilities of athletes.
o Work and coordinate with members of athletic staff to plan and implement program goals.
o Ensure coaches at all levels are working together towards a common goal within the program.
o Promote and recruit all aspects of the football program.
o Implement a regular practice schedule to provide both individual and team development.
o Hold a preseason meeting with all student athletes and parents before the first game.
o Monitor and support student eligibility for extracurricular participation.
o Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.
o Represent the Akron Central School District and the Athletic Program in a professional manner at all times.
o Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Start Date: August 17, 2026
