News stations meet up with Santa Band Tour!

Akron High School's Santa's Helpers Band made their annual tour on Friday, December 15, 2023. The band delighted audiences at the NFTA Bus Station on Ellicott Street in Buffalo, Feedmore WNY in Amherst, Buffalo-Niagara International Airport in Cheektowaga, Amberleigh and Solstice senior living communities in Williamsville, Dave Smith Ford and Eastern Hills Mall, before visiting Adesa and returning to Akron.

Senior High NYSSMA Area All-State Festival!

Five Akron High School musicians were selected for this year's NYSSMA Area All-State Festival held at SUNY Fredonia on Friday, November 17th, and Saturday, November 18th.  This past spring, they auditioned and were chosen out of hundreds of applicants from Erie, Niagara, and Chautauqua Counties.  We are incredibly proud of their accomplishment and for representing the Akron Music Department.  Bravo!

Akron Schools once again hosted the New York State School Music Association's Junior High Area All-State Music Festival on November 3rd and 4th.  Over 500 musicians were selected for this festival, representing 50 schools from Western New York.  Akron students who auditioned and were selected to perform in the elite music ensembles are (l-r)  Hannah Witkowski, clarinetist in Symphony Orchestra, Sam Reagan, bassist in Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Mandell, percussionist in Concert Band, Alyssa Jago, vocalist in SSA Chorus. Congratulations on your selection and for the exceptional concert performance!
