Flu Shot Clinic is October 21st!

Flu Shot Clinic is October 21st!

Akron Schools, 47 Bloomingdale Avenue, Akron, will host a flu vaccination clinic on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 3:00PM to 6:00PM in High School GYM 3.  The clinic is run by Wegmans Pharmacy. Please visit akronschools.org/flu for a link to the Wegmans online scheduler.
It is recommended for those attending the clinic to park in the upper high school parking lot as entrance to the clinic will only be allowed at GYM 3 from the outside of the building. This is the same location in which the annual budget vote is usually held.  No parking will be allowed in the front of the building due to the buses and student dismissal.  Please look for signage.
Patients are reminded to bring their insurance card and it is also recommended that patients wear a short-sleeved shirt.
Flu vaccinations are offered to individuals two (2) years of age or older.  All shots are provided by Wegmans pharmacists.
Wegmans Pharmacy accepts most regional and national health care plans including Blue Cross of WNY, Independent Health, Univera, Medicare and Fidelis. The flu shot is covered on most insurance plans with no co-payment. Preservative-free vaccine is available for anyone who is pregnant.  Senior dose vaccine for adults 65 and older is available.
Influenza (flu) is a serious, contagious disease in which complications attribute to about 36,000 deaths in the US each year.  Influenza viruses are always changing so annual vaccination is necessary.  Flu can make existing medical conditions worse and can result in pneumonia even in otherwise healthy individuals.  If you are not vaccinated, you may spread influenza to others without having symptoms yourself.  Without vaccination, you may get influenza and experience: fever, headache, sore throat, chills, muscle aches, cough and fatigue, lasting a few days to a week.  In addition to feeling sick, this may result in lost wages and place a burden on co-workers and family members who may depend on you.  Flu season peaks from January to February and it takes about two weeks to develop immunity after being vaccinated.
