Spring All-WNY Scholar Athlete winners and honorable mentions announced

SPRING SCHOLAR-ATHLETES FROM AKRON SCHOOLS ANNOUNCED
AKRON, NEW YORK (June 3, 2019) – Akron Central Schools is pleased to recognize sixteen seniors who have earned Scholar-Athlete All Western New York selection by Section VI of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. This designation is reserved for seniors with an overall grade point average of 90 or above for seven semesters who are starters or important reserves on their respective athletic teams.
Nathan Chubb of the tennis team is a two-time of the scholar athlete award having also been selected during the winter season as a swimmer for ACS. Skyler Masse of the tennis team and Jenna Robnett of the girls’ track team have also been selected as winners. They will be featured with other scholar-athletes from Western New York in an upcoming edition of The Buffalo News and will receive a t-shirt recognizing this distinction, compliments of ADPRO Sports.
Additionally, Cassandra Brandl, Lucia Molitor and Micah Suckow from the tennis team, Kaleb Delaney from the lacrosse team, Hailey Hall, Madison Harris, Morgan Harris, Allison Hoerner, Elise Leeds, Andrew Marsh, Sara Pisano and Riley Trzenski from the track team and Riley Polkowski of the baseball team have been selected as Honorable Mention scholar-athletes in Section VI.
“Even though these student athletes have been accepted into college and are getting ready to graduate, they remain focused in the classroom and are true leaders both on and off of the field,” remarked Mr. Stephen Dimitroff, Akron’s high school assistant principal and athletic director. “What a great example these young men and women set for all of our student athletes at ACS. Go Tigers!”
The spring sports for which Akron Schools participates include baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis and track and field. Nominations are submitted to Section VI with the student’s transcript, academic and athletic accomplishments, community service and other school activities.
