AKRON SCHOOLS HIRES NEW FACILITIES DIRECTOR

 

Mr. Michael Coram AKRON, NEW YORK (January 2, 2020) – The Akron Central School District announces the hiring of Mr. Michael Coram as its new Facilities Director.  Coram replaces Mr. James Andres who is retiring from Akron Schools at the end of January.

     A native of Western New York, Mr. Coram has experience in Facilities and Construction Management. His experience working in a school setting comes from time at the North Tonawanda City Schools as a Building Maintenance Mechanic where he ensured the proper operation of facility services.  Prior, he was Commissioning Engineer at Praxair, assisting with construction and overseeing the installation of process equipment. He also was the Maintenance and Engineering Manager at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center overseeing the day to day maintenance operations and minor construction projects of a campus consisting of 12 buildings and approximately five thousand employees.

McCabe, Superintendent of Akron Schools.  “At the same time, we are grateful to Mr. Andres for his tireless dedication to the district and wish him the very best in retirement.  Mr. Andres’ detailed approach to facilities maintenance and foresight has enabled our students, staff and community members to enjoy a campus that is an asset to our region. Mr. Coram, Mr. Andres, and the entire facilities staff are working collaboratively to ensure a smooth transition.”
     Mr. Coram holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, has the City of Buffalo Stationary Engineer License, the NYS Backflow Preventer Inspector License and the EPA 608-410A Refrigeration License.
     Outside of work, Mr. Coram enjoys spending time at the beach with his two children, hiking, or tending to his honeybees and vegetable garden.
