Mr. Dimitroff and Dakota SochaAKRON, NEW YORK (November 17, 2021) – Congratulations are in order for Dakota Socha, a senior at Akron High School, who attends the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center (OCTEC) in the Diesel Technology/Heavy Equipment Program.  He was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society on November 17th.

Out of all the high school students in the United States, the National Technical Honor Society students who receive this honor comprise 1.6 percent of that population.   To staff at the Orleans/Niagara BOCES center, these students represent the four pillars of the National Technical Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, service and character.
Dakota was honored with his certificate in front of classmates, staff, and Akron High School Principal Mr. Stephen Dimitroff.

“We are so very proud of Dakota and his accomplishments,” said Mr. Dimitroff.  “Dakota epitomizes the desired work ethic, perseverance, and resiliency, and has certainly set himself up for success in the workforce with his vocational skill set.  Great job, Dakota!”

Socha needed to maintain an 89.5 grade average in his career and technical education program and an 84.5 average at his high school, have superior attendance, exemplary behavior, be a member in good standing with SkillsUSA, and have a recommendation from a faculty member.

Following graduation in June 2022, Dakota plans to attend college, work or join the military as a technician, with the ultimate goal of becoming a technician.
