ACS Athletic Wall of Fame to welcome three standouts on October 11th!

     The Akron Central School Athletic “Wall of Fame” Committee has selected three exceptional athletes to be inducted to the ACS “Wall of Fame” during a ceremony to be held at 6:00PM in the performance gymnasium during the school’s 2024 Homecoming events scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024.  Additionally, the “Eye of the Tiger” award will be presented.
      Mrs. Wendy Pazderski, current secretary for the Akron Schools Athletic Department, has been selected for the “Eye of the Tiger” award. Pazderski, who has held her position for nearly eight years, has transformed and streamlined many processes for the Athletics Department.  Affectionately known as Mrs. Paz, she has dedicated herself to getting the details right and improving the student-athlete experience at Akron Schools.  The Wall of Fame committee created the special award to recognize significant supporters of the ACS athletic program who may not be athletes or coaches themselves.
    Nelson Logan The youngest individual of this year’s inductees is Nelson Logan, a member of the Class of 2018, with an exemplary high school career in lacrosse. Logan was a three-year varsity player, team captain, 1st Team All-WNY and was nominated for Tom Borelli-Buffalo News Outstanding Male Lacrosse Player in 2018.  He went on to play college lacrosse and is currently a member of the Tigers’ coaching staff.
    Tommy James, Class of 2014, has been selected to the Wall of Fame for his stellar sports career for the Tigers’ baseball and football teams. James is a two-time 1st Team Niagara-Orleans All-League and second team All-League baseball player with 20 career wins. He played three years of varsity football earning 1st Team All-League, Offensive MVP and Class C North Defensive Player of the Year.Tommy James
     The third athlete to be inducted will be Casey Neill O’Meritt of the Class of 2008.  Casey made her mark with the Tigers as a five-year cross-country runner and as a distance runner for the track team. She was a member of three cross-country teams earning a trip to the NYSPHSAA state championship and in 2006, competed at the state championship as an individual.  In 2007, she was named the team’s MVP.  In spring of 2008, she and her relay-mates on the track team were Niagara-Orleans champs in the 4x800.
     Casey NeillThe Wall of Fame Committee asks fans and community members to join in the celebration on Friday, October 11.  The inductees will be part of the Homecoming Parade through the Village of Akron beginning at 5:00PM. The induction ceremony will begin at 6:00PM in the performance gymnasium. The new inductees will also be recognized on the field during half-time of the football game.
