Mr. Don Shomette, nationally recognized school violence prevention expert, returns to Akron Schools on Monday, October 7, 2024, bringing his renowned “Safe & Loved for Parents” presentation to the Edward Allen Auditorium at 7:00PM. The one-hour presentation is open to parents and any adult community members.
Shomette’s approach is different from any other safety expert because he treats people holistically. Attendees can expect to learn how to help their children be Safe and feel Loved, spot indicators of dangers, enhance personal protection, and much more.
In September 2023, Don Shomette brought his program for faculty and staff members during the Superintendent’s Conference Days. He is known for his mission to “inspire and motivate those he helps to not only grow more proficient in their work but also happier in their lives by seeing safety as something so much more than cameras and locks.”
For over 30 years, Don has considered it a privilege to have assisted thousands of teachers, principals, superintendents, parents, school resource officers and other difference-makers to help students, families and communities to be safe and feel loved.
“We are thrilled to welcome Don Shomette back to Akron Schools,” said Superintendent Andrea Kersten. “His unique approach to safety and well-being, centered on both the heart and mind, resonates deeply with our commitment to ensuring that every child not only feels safe but truly cared about. We invite parents and adult community members to join us for an evening of learning and collaboration.”
The event is free and open to any parent, adult family members or caregivers, and community members. The presentation is designed to inspire parents and families to look at safety differently in a way that will make them and their children safer, happier and more successful.
