Substitute teachers sought by Akron Schools!

Akron Central School District continues to need substitute teachers. The Board of Education, under the recommendation of Superintendent Andrea S. Kersten and the Director of Curriculum & Instruction Mrs. Danielle Hawkins, approved changes to the District’s criteria for substitute teachers as well as the rate of pay.

Substitute teaching positions are great opportunities for those currently working toward their teaching degree, as well as those retired from teaching or other professions, who are interested in by-the-day assignments executing provided lesson plans and supervising students in the absence of the regular teacher.

The rate of pay for substitute teachers is $22.00 per hour or $143-$160 per day. The substitute day begins at 7:45 and will end at 2:45 or 3:45, depending on the assignment.

The school is also hiring substitute aides and monitors at a rate of pay of $15.00 per hour. These individuals will be assigned duties by the principal or classroom teachers and may also include monitoring students during arrival and dismissal.

Interested applicants can apply to become a substitute at www.akronschools.org/subs. The link will take one to Applicant Tracker, a platform for employment applications used by the District through the Western New York Regional Information Center. After creating an account and completing the application, applicants will be contacted for an interview with Mrs. Hawkins. Substitute teachers are approved by the Board of Education and are required to have fingerprint clearance.
