Five 2025-25 Winter athletic teams earn NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team designation!

     Akron Central Schools is pleased to announce that five out of six Winter 2024-25 varsity sports teams are New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Scholar-Athlete Teams.  NYSPHSAA honors teams at the end of each sports season with certificates and pins.
     The Akron High School varsity teams designated Scholar-Athlete Teams and their team averages are Boys Basketball, 90.04; Girls Basketball, 96.53; Boys Swimming, 94.08; Girls Swimming, 95.80; and Winter Competitive Cheer, 94.54. 
     The overall average of the five Akron High School award-winning teams is 94.20.
     To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition, the team’s average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90.00.
     “We are thrilled to recognize our winter sport scholar-athletes for their outstanding achievements,” said Mr. Stephen Dimitroff, Akron High School Principal. “Their dedication and determination are truly inspiring. We thank them for representing our school with pride, perseverance, and integrity. They embody what it means to be a true Tiger student-athlete, and we can’t wait to see all that they accomplish next! Nya:wëh and Go Tigers!”
     “We are incredibly proud of our scholar-athletes for their dedication and commitment to excellence both in the classroom and in competition,” added Mr. John Morello, Director of Interscholastic Sports for ACS. “Their hard work, discipline, and passion truly embody the values of our athletic program. This recognition is a testament to their ability to balance academics and athletics at such a high level, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate their outstanding achievements. Go Tigers!"
