  •       Author and illustrator Rachel DiNunzio visited Akron Elementary School in November.  She shared some of the many books she has written and illustrated while telling her story of how she came to be an author and illustrator beginning in her childhood!  DiNunzio presented two assemblies, one for grades K-2, and a second assembly for grades 3-5, offering opportunities for students to ask questions about her books, becoming an author, finding ideas for stories or the process of getting a book published.
Between the two assemblies, she stopped in Miss Kuhn's pre-K class to read her book Cameleon Cat to a very captive young audience.
Two students from each fourth and fifth grade class enjoyed conversation with Ms. DiNunzio during lunch shared in the library.
Thank you, Rachel DiNunzio, for visiting Akron Elementary!

  •      In celebration of National Native American Heritage Month, Mr. Perry Ground, storyteller extraordinaire, visited with Akron Elementary students.  Since Native Americans did not originally have a way to write down their history, they relied on the re-telling of stories through storytellers.  ACS students thoroughly enjoyed the expressive and captivating storytelling of Mr. Ground.  Akron Elementary says "Thank you, Mr. Ground!"
