WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF ELEMENTARY MUSIC AT AKRON SCHOOLS!

The Akron Central School District is now in the beginning stage of Virtual Band & Orchestra recruitment for all of the present 3rd-5th grade students. We ask that a Parent/Guardian complete the form given to your child no later than June 7th.

Before a Parent/Guardian can be notified of which instrument is the best match for each child, we will first need specific size measurements for every child. These measurements are not only for strings; they are needed for band instruments as well. We will be pulling your child out of class to take the appropriate measurements that we need. Please refer to the Instrumental Recruitment Presentation slide show found here for additional information on the instruments.

Usually, Mrs. Komosinski has allowed students to try several instruments. However, due to COVID-19's continued impact, we will be gathering this information by observation only. Akron Music Studios does allow you to go to the store to try a couple instruments, if you wish.  Recruitment is a process that cannot be rushed. Many factors need to be taken into consideration when determining the best match instrument for every child, including the instruments in our inventory that we have available.  We will notify you of our decision no later than June 17th.
