Heart Memory Wall for Elise Farrell
"Jump Rope for Heart" Campaign nets over $3,900!
Akron Elementary School completed its annual "Jump Rope for Heart" campaign for the American Heart Association. 2019 marks the 20th year Akron Elementary has participated and results from the campaign were exceptional with $3,920.10 donated to the cause! As a reward for surpassing their goal of $2,500, students will witness Mrs. Schukraft and Mr. Westmiller getting SLIMED during a special assembly! Check back for pictures from that event!
This year, students have created a Memory Wall in honor of a beloved classmate, Elise Farrell, who passed away suddenly last spring from a heart condition. Each paper heart contains a special message about Elise. Elementary Physical Education teachers, Mrs. Brittany Schukraft and Mr. Robert Westmiller, have spearheaded the campaign. Students collected donations then jumped and skipped for their hearts during Jump Off Day in their physical education classes.
Jump Rope for Heart was established in 1983 and is the American Heart Association's skipping and fundraising program for schools that encourages kids to have a positive attitude towards exercise, healthy eating, and heart health while raising vital funds to fight heart disease.
Elementary students at ACS in grades 1-5 were invited to help by collecting for the campaign. For more information about the annual event, please contact Mrs. Schukraft at email@example.com or (716)542-5050 x3135 or www.heart.org/kidsheartchallenge.
Thank you for your support!
