SILENCEIS THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF A GOOD REHEARSAL.
NEITHER THE DIRECTOR NOR THE ENSEMBLE CAN BE CREATIVE IN AN ATMOSPHERE OF CHAOS-
3 claps = complete silence for instructions.
-
Complete silence when the MAESTRO takes the podium.
-
Do not talk when the director stops to correct and rehearse parts.
-
You may talk quietly with your stand partner between selections.
"This is your largest class. Rules must be followed to have a productive rehearsal and achieve the performance goals of the Akron MS Band." ~ Mr. Bardo
-
Be seated with your instrument ready to play at 1:55. DO NOT PLAY! You may talk quietly with your stand partner until the bass drum begins rehearsal to warm up the group. "Step By Step" Lesson 1 Unit # will be written on the board.
-
"No, you may not go to the restroom or get a drink." Do this before class. Throw out your gum before taking your seat. If you have a question or concern, raise your hand after warm-ups. All questions will be answered after warm-ups.
-
Cases under seats except for large instruments. (Trombone, Horn, Tenor/Bari sax, Baritone/Tuba)
-
Do NOT play any other instrument than yours or the one assigned to you. Do NOT visit other sections before rehearsal.
-
Have a pencil and any other supplies needed for rehearsal at your seat with you.
-
Store your folders in your lockers. Close your cases and your locker doors.
-
Prepare for a great rehearsal!
Great rehearsals make great performances.
