• TIPS FOR PARENTS TO CREATE LIFETIME READERS

    THE THREE BS

*Research has proven that only 30 minutes of reading a day outside of school will improve your child's reading level. *

B IS FOR BOOKS :  ownership of a book with the child's name inscribed inside a book that doesn't have to be returned to the library or shared with siblings.

B IS FOR BOOK BASKET or BOOK CASE: keep a basket of books in the living room and place a book case in your child's room.  Encourage him to read after breakfast, before bed, whenever you hear the words, "I am BORED."

P.S.  No TV in the kitchen or bedroom.   BOOKS INSTEAD !!!                      open book

B IS FOR BEDLAMP:  most children will do anything to stay up later let them read by a dim light their eyes will grow heavy after about 10 minutes.

    Finally:
          1.    Read to your children on a regular basis.
    2.     Have a wide variety of reading material available.
    3.     Paper and pencil should be readily available.
