Before you learn to factor...
Factoring is one way to solve equations with high degrees. As you will see, not all equations have a highest exponent of one. Many of the equation we use have squares in them. They are in the form ax2+bx +c. a, b, and c are numerical values. We will go through several methods to factor these equations. Pay particular attention to how many terms there are when using a method and what number a (called the leading coefficient) is. Definitions to know:
term(s)
polynomial
monomial
binomial
trinomial
product
sum
distribution
substitution
