    FOIL is the process of distributing with two binomials...

    example:

    (x + 5)(x - 6)   Everything in the first binomial needs to be multiplied by everything in the second binomial.  FOIL stands for First, Outside, Inside, Last.  This organizes the four multiplication's that should take place.

                     F - x*x
                     O - x*(-6)
                     I - 5*x
                     L - 5*(-6)

               So we get x2-6x+5x-30 =  x2-1x-30
     
     

         ex.  (2x - 4)(3x - 3) =  6x2-6x-12x+12 = 6x2-18x+12
