The second UPK program site at Rattles to Reading, will continue to offer two, half-day program classes.
You must contact Miss Madison Machelski, Central Registrar, at mmachelski@akronk12.org, or (716)542-5039, for an application and registration form! Call now!The program runs from September to June, generally on the same calendar as the K-12 program.
Our pre-kindergarten curriculum is well articulated and coordinated so all children in the program meet the same standards. Teachers at the Pre-K sites have worked on the curriculum with Akron teachers and administrators since the program began in 1999 to ensure that the focus is always on students and their needs.
Our learner-centered curriculum builds on English literacy, social and emotional development, and physical skills. Support services to both students and parents offer counseling and linkages to various social agencies. Parent involvement is central to our mission. Parent volunteer opportunities, parent meetings, newsletters, field trips and home visits are just some of the many ways that our pre-kindergarten teachers reach out to involve parents.
