Last night the varsity track and field teams competed in the Niagara-Orleans League Championships at Wilson. Several Akron athletes placed in the top 3 and earned a spot on the awards podium. Three League Champions were recognized for Akron: Marissa Brege in discus, Madigan Regan in the 1500, and 8th grader Quinn O'Malley in pentathlon. Regan also earned 2nd place in the 800. Other place finishers included:
Cailyn Thomas-Wells (2nd 400 hurdles), Kylie Karmazyn (2nd high jump), Cara Swader (2nd shot put), Anastasia Los (3rd pole vault), Anna Bergan (3rd high jump), the 4x800 relay of Brooke Milhollen, Morgan Marcinkowski, Hannah Liss, and Kylee Rebmann took 3rd, and the 4x400 of Kylie Karmazyn, Hannah Liss, Morgan Marcinkowski, and Madigan Regan took 3rd. Narrowly missing a top 3 spot, 8th grader Abby Bower had an awesome day setting big PRs in the 1500 and 3000. Great job Tiger Tracksters!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Every day this month we’ll highlight a coping skill or wellness action you can take to support your mental health. A calendar version is available for pickup in Mrs. Bowen’s office if anyone is interested. Today’s skill is to try a new coping skill. Some examples are: belly breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, playing with a pet, or watching your favorite movie.
